After months of baking sunshine and missing nearly all of the Great British winter back home, we decided to go in search of snow - and boy did we find it (& get cold and wet!)
We weren't 'Sleepless in Seattle', more 'Sh*tfaced in Seattle!', but then it was Chris' birthday! How fortunate then for our hangovers this is the city where Starbucks was born, & we made two new friends who showed us all the sights worth seeing! But it's not only the world's largest coffee chain this city has given to the world...
We're normally pretty lazy human beings, opting for a lie in than any morning exercise. Untrue to form - in our final week in Peru we decided to cram as much action in as possible, mainly because this adventure junkie's paradise is so cheap!
This may be controversial... but from start to finish, we felt milked by Machu Picchu. It cost us the best part of £800 over 2 days. Are the Peruvians ripping everyone off? Can you really blame them? Or could there be a cheaper way of doing it?
After nearly 3 and a half months of non stop travelling and 2 weeks in Bolivia at high altitude, it was only a matter of time before one of us came a cropper, and despite his smugness about ‘having done all this before in 2007’ it was Chris who bit the dust first!
We knew being in South America for Easter would be a spectacle, but some of the traditions & processions we saw were just downright weird!
